fight or flight: easier when they have a face

'Find safety in the trees.'

That's the phrase that's been going through my head for the past 8 days. New York doesn't have many trees, but (in case you don't know) there is a fucking huge park right in the middle of it (in fact it's kind of central). I've basically stayed away from it the whole time I've been here. I mostly hang around near 14th street or up by 90th or so. Those are the places that's it's easiest to sit around on the ground without getting hassled and find tall buildings that are easy to break into to.

But recently I find myself heading to the park. There are tall brick walls all around it, like they know what's in there's not safe, and the trees reach out into the street. I never actually go in. I just stand there, staring at it, the same phrase going through my head again and again and again.

At 1st I was sort of worried this meant Slenderman was getting to me.

Then I remembered I was always like this.

I have no idea what this could mean if anything, but I know it's not true. There are 3 things you can do that will get you killed by Slenderman:

1. Not following the rules.
2. Hanging out with somebody being followed by Slenderman.
3. Hanging out in a forest.

When I 1st started out as I said, I thought the forest was safe. It seemed like the safest place to be. I use to hang out in it a lot because it was near my house and I figured anything that would chase after you would have a hard time getting around in it.

But that's not true.

Slenderman uses the trees to get around. I don't know why and I don't know how, but He does. The weird thing is He uses people to get around too, so I don't know how those 2 things are connected. Peoples brains, forests, they have nothing in common, except evidently Selnderman. I think maybe that's His natural habitat. Because people always thought of Him by the trees, or hid Him there in pictures, it became His home. And things are always more powerful at home. So maybe that's it. Maybe He's more powerful in the home we chose for Him.

All this shit is our fault, the people who made the stories, who watched the videos, who willed Him into existence. And now we don't know how to fix it and are all falling apart. Every other blog that may be real seems to be having the same reaction right now: fight. But I don't know if I can fight. I can barely stand by a fucking park. I made this blog to help, I want to clean up this mess. But I feel like fighting will just get more blood on my hands. I feel like somebody is trying to tell me something, but I can't figure out what. If these rules don't work, if the trees become safe, I won't know what to think anymore. I'll be lost again. And then what? Then how can I help people? How can I beat this thing?

Everything is shifting because of all this stuff. All the blogs and videos and people being followed by Him. The way people see Slenderman, His powers, how to deal with Him. I can feel it, and I wonder if the other people being followed by Him can feel it too.

I had a friend before all this happened named Jim. He liked to get high a lot in his basement and we'd hang out while he smoked pot and I sat around laughing at the stoners. 1 day I tried to tell him all about Marble Hornets and Slenderman and how he should get into the videos.
"So wait, this guy has no face?" he asked.
"Yeah, I mean he's not a guy, but yeah it has no face." I said.
"So this J guy has to face a guy with no face?" he laughed.
"What?" I said "Yeah I guess."
He laughed pretty hard over this for a while and after a while I laughed too. Even if you're not high it's kind of funny seeing how amused people can get at their own shitty jokes when they are. Or at least it use to be.

God I was such a dumbass back then.

Why didn't I realize what a dumbass I was?

Jim disappeared pretty early on. A lot of people thought he had run away, but now I know that he was taken. Thinking back on this now I just remember how he said that. 'Has to face a guy with no face.'

I don't know if I want to face a guy with no face.

And I sure as fuck don't want to find safety in the trees.

I guess the lesson for today is pretty simple: stay the fuck away from woods, forests, parks and any other place there are large amounts of trees. Like I've said before it's how he moves and it's it's his home, so he's at the advantage there and that's the last thing you want to give him.

I also have an email now. I saw some people were asking to talk to me in the comments, so I made 1 so that anybody can send me messages if they need me. I may give my P.O. Box out too on here. Not sure yet. It's matthetutorial@gmail.com so email me if you need anything. And as always leave questions or anything in the comments.

Now I'm gonna go find somewhere with AC because it is still fucking hot here.

  1. The trees will be the death of you. It sounds as if He is attacking your innermost thoughts and tainting them. Watch out.

    My advice? Just keep running.

  2. Yeah I thought of that. The trees seemed so different though. I don't know. You're probably right. Even if the trees does mean something other then Slenderman fucking with me while He moves me around, I'm still not going into any forests anytime soon.

    And yeah, I'm always running.

  3. He gets his strength from wood and iron takes it away. Find safety in the trees by making them safe. Fill them with metal.

If belief brought it into existence, perhaps the only thing that unmake it is belief again. People need to believe it can be killed, or better yet believe it doesn't exist at all. The problem is it will keep striking its existence home & reinforcing our fear & belief while we try to think it away. It's a difficult problem.

Still catching up, but I think this is the only way that we can ever end this.

    2. We created it as a collective conscious, and thats how we need to get rid of it.

    3. Thats kind of what I was thinking. The first mistake was thinking of it as invulnerable. Now people are thinking and willing ways to kill it, but the ways that are being willed are to difficult. Like ripping out his heart and burning it? Really? We need to make a way to kill it thats more probable and less fictitious. Our believing in it made it stronger.

  5. "Willed him into exsistence"? I think it's more loilley that he already exsisted, and someone just found some evidence of him and posted it up, thinking it to be a joke (or hoping to pass it onto someone else in the belief that they would then be free).

As for what connects trees and the brain together - When I look at a diagram of a human brain, I often see it's kinda shaped like a giant tree (or prehaps a world tree), and there's even that part of the brain that looks like a leaf, right? Now you said that the Slender Man is stupid. If that's true, maybe he simply confuses the two? In other words, it's not that he's more powerful around trees, it's just that he only uses his powers on trees because he believes them to be similiar to human brains, the one thing he DOES use his power on.

Merely speculation, but the only way I can make sense of it.

Oh, btw, a question: I read somewhere that Slender Man attacks animals other than humans. Meaning he hunts anything, not just us. Your thoughts?

  6. There's something in common between trees and people. They're both alive.

Maybe plants have the same sort of subconscious as we do, and that's the common ground he takes advantage of. Funny how when I was little I loved the woods. Always felt so safe there.

I'm completely skeptical of any religious stuff against him too, but maybe a church is worth a shot. Lots of baddies whether they're real or not are speculated to have an aversion to holy ground. All else fails, it'll have a nice high steeple. Worth a shot.

    1. In many animistic religions (such as the Aboriginal peoples of Australia), it's believed that every living thing (and in some cases non-living things) have a life force. Maybe He's tapping into that life force or sub conscious or whatever you want to call it.

@dmeigh Maybe you've got it right though. Slenderman isn't necessarily stupid. He's cunning, manipulative, merciless, and extremely dangerous. But maybe it's a case of alien thinking. He gets confused because we're so different and our brains are so similar to trees. It's interesting that you compare the brain to a world tree. In psychology, there's the idea of humans having a "collective conscious," and maybe it's like the world tree in Norse mythology that stretches through all 9 worlds. This "world tree" stretches through all our subconscious minds.

And this is to M. Thank you for taking the time to make this. It's helped me a lot. I have a... personal connection to Him, and this has been particularlly useful.

And just a thought, though I doubt it will help. Don't say His name. In demonology, saying a demon's name gives it more power and draws it to you. Maybe He's the same way. Again, I doubt this will be useful, but it might help someone out there.

  7. Shit, shit, shit! Why trees? Why not... Fuck i dunno? Water or Mountains or.. Anything other than trees! When you live in Sweden, which consist of more than 80% forest, and is being chased by Him then you are more or less dead already.

I am not 100% sure yet if i am being chased by him, but.. I dunno, i can't shake the feeling that he may be coming for me next..

  8. I'm new to all this but i thought I should drop my two cents.

As for the trees / brain connection.

    It's about connections and pathways.
The human brain consists of millions of connections and pathways. Much like a forest. If you think of a forest not as a space filled with a bunch of seperate trees but one space connected BY the trees it makes more sense. Then if you take into consideration that since all forests are alike comprimised of the same connections and pathways it makes sense that once you make a connection with one it would be simple to make a connection to all the others.
    Just a thought.

  9. If we created Him through stories then maybe we could create some way to defeat him
